Outlook Express

  1. Open the 'Outlook Express' application. From the 'Tools' menu, select 'Accounts…'
  1. Select the 'Mail' tab
  2. Make sure your account name is highlighted
  3. Select the 'Properties' button (or the 'Add' button if setting Outlook up for the first time)
  1. Type your name as you would like it to appear in the 'From' field of the outgoing message.
  1. Type your return email address so that people can reply to your messages.
  1. Set the value of 'Outgoing mail (SMTP):' to smtp-server.com.
  1. Select the 'Servers' tab
  2. Under 'Outgoing Mail (SMTP):' at the bottom of the 'Servers' Tab check the box 'My server requires authentication'.
  3. Then click the [Settings] button and the 'Outgoing Mail Server' window will appear.
  1. In the 'Outgoing Mail Server' window enter your SMTP User Name and SMTP Password that you got in the instructions email or on the page instructions.
  2. Check the 'Remember password' box if you don’t want to type it in every time you send emails.
  1. Click the 'Advanced' tab. Check the box 'This server requires a SSL'.
  2. Finally click OK and then Close to begin using your SMTP-Server.com email account.

     

NOTE:

Some ISPs block SMTP Relay causing outgoing messages to bounce. If this happens to you, try entering different port settings.

  1. Go to the Advanced tab
  2. Enter a new port number in the box for Outgoing server (SMTP). Use either 80 or 2525 as a port number.
  3. Click OK
